Friday, September 12, 2008 was the 2nd Annual  Tee Up For Our Troops to benefit the James A. Haley Fisher House of Tampa. This golf tournament was held at McDill Air Force Base. Considering that Hurricane Ike was making a bee-line thru the Gulf of Mexico, it was a beautiful day with a bright blue sky and heavy white clouds. There were about one hundred golfers enjoying the day to help raise money to support the Fisher House. Fisher House is a "home away from home" for  families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. It is a temporary residence and not a treatment facility or counseling center. The Fisher House has a small staff and depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance the stay of the guests. The Fisher House Foundation is a not-for-profit organization. I first learned about the Fisher House when I was asked to perform for a fundraiser in October of  2007. It is truly a  great benefit for those who have served their country and paid a personal price and now need help in return. They and their families have made a  tremendous sacrifice. So, whatever I can do for them, I will.

Anyway, it was my honor to perform the National Anthem  prior to the start of the golf tournament and then to perform during the dinner afterwards. So, enjoy the pictures and check out the Fisher House online and consider what you might be able to do for them. They are always in need of volunteers and donations so please be generous. You can call the Fisher House manager at  813-910-3000.

The next  Tee  Up  Golf  Tournament will be held on October 8, 2009.  See you there!
