FHZ Tournament Oh my gosh....................My mom actually let someone take a picture of her. We were at the 16th hole and manned the refreshment wagon. It was so cold. Last year (2006) it was so hot we could barely stand it. Dr. Blackstone, Brad Mason, and Robert Ruchti braved the wind and cold of the 2007 event to raise money for a good cause. Dr. Jacob and Dr. Chakola are regulars at the golf tournament. Dr. Chakola said he would be my driver when I am "rich and famous". I sure hope he starts driving for me soon. :) It was a great day, but I was glad when we were done. Kevan Metcalf and Robert Ruchti let me have the pin flag after the tournament. Photos Singing for the Fisher House fundraiser. What a surprise! I didn't realize that Congressman Bilirakis was talking to me when he asked for "Ashley" to come up to the stage. He was giving some awards and recognitions at the Fisher House Fundraiser when he called me up. What an honor! He gave me a congressional coin in recognition of the troop support I do with my mom and for Josh's Song. Of course I gave Josh the coin. After all- he is the Marine. I'm just the supporter. Yep- he's my hero, he's my brother and I am glad he served his time in Iraq and came safely home. Make sure you go to Josh's page and listen to the song we wrote for him. You can also see a photo montage of pix from Iraq and Afghanistan. Pleasee keep our troops and their families in your prayers. They are why we can celebrate the 4th of July! Florida Representative Will Weatherford really liked the shirt. I'm told he likes my music too. That's a good thing. Jerry Smith invited me to sing at the 2008 Earth Day activities at the State Park in Crystal River on April 19. We first met at the State fair in Tampa in February. It was a beautiful day to celebrate Earth Day in Crystal River. The MONEYPENNY Band was very kind and allowed me to use their equipment. Thanks guys! Hmmmmmm. New fans? A perfect day! On stage in Crystal River. Danny Burgess is the youngest person elected to City Council in Zephyrhills. He was elected when he was only 18. He has done a great job. When the council recently voted themselves a pay raise, Dany voted against it. He said he wouldn't accept the raise for himself. When the pay raise was approved Danny announced that he would use the equivalent amount of the raise for a scholarship for deserving ZHS students. So, I decided to help him out a little. We are hoping that the community and local businesses will follow our lead and help our own community. Time will tell...... Chuck was good enough to take some pix with me for the web site. But he sure looks tired! Guess Randy and Dave are working him too hard. Poor baby! It was sooooo cold at the Bull. Next week I'm gonna wear a sweatshirt! I went to the Dallas Bull in Tampa to try out the Play Station SingStar system. Chuck from WQYK was there to help figure it out. It was pretty cool to be recognized at the Zephyrhills C of C breakfast for winning the 2007 Jaycee Idol. Chamber President Greg First surprised me when he announced it. (It was sooooooo early. I am not a morning person!) Drunky Brewster at Crabby Bills-Clearwater Beach. Awesome!!!!!!!!! Sharing a good laugh with Helen and Capt.Rich of Above Average Charters. They are docked at Clearwater Marina just across the street from Crabby Bills. I think I will have to go fishing one of these days. They said I could make a music video on their boat...........now I just have to write the perfect song. Debbie and Shawn of Clearwater stopped for a picture at Crabby Bills on Clearwater Beach. Veronica (The V-Girl) from WQYK was in New Port Richey, so I had to stop by and say hi. The last time she saw me was at the Hard Rock and I had blonde hair. It took her a minute to recognize me. Ashley went to New Port Richey to help buddy Dusty Ward raise some money to go to Texas. Dusty is going to get to open for Keith Urban! Cool............................. Another new friend. Wonder if he'll take me for a ride.........Nope- my mom would kill me! Aspen Cooper saw me at the State Fair in Tampa. I am glad she found me again tonight. Isn't she a cutie? I love her smile. Bruce and Bob were on hand to answer any questions and show off the warehouse of goodies donated for the troops. I think Bruce is one of my newest fans. My buddy Ms Connie came from Zephyrhills Vet Clinic to hang out with us at Sifter Parts. Jessica and Michael of Tarpon Springs decided to take advantage of the moment when the band did Unchained Melody Singing "Picture" with Sean of Shake Band @ the Hilton on Clearwater Beach Singing for the Rotary District Conference at Clearwater Beach Hilton May 11, 2007 I don't have their names just this second, but when I get them, I'll put them on the site. But they followed a juvenile who was responsible, along with his friends, for a great deal of criminal mischief and theft. The two men followed the kid and were able to lead the proper law enforcement officers to them. They got special recognition from Sheriff White. Performing the National Anthem 25APR07 for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard This is as close as I want to get to law enforcement. I was honored to be asked by Sheriff Bob White to sing the National Anthem for the Pasco Sheriff's Office Recognition and Award Ceremony. This ceremony honors those who have recently retired, newly sworn-in, and those honored for meritorious service. My niece MacKenzie couldn't let Zach be my only back-up singer. I'm pretty sure she was jealous of Zach. The night's winners of the Cypress Gardens passes. On March 1 2007, I decided to sing for the St Jude Childrens Hospital and Research Center. Since I couldn't go there, I decided that the best way to do this was to sing for donations at Remington's for the Country Cares Radio-thon that was being hosted by WQYK in Tampa. I want to thank everyone at Remington's for their tips and help. The fun part after Remington's was taking more than $200 to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. Veronica, Jan and the other volunteers were waiting for pledge phone calls. It was pretty cool that Veronica recognized me from my performance at the Tampa Bay Three Day last spring. It doesn't matter who you are or what your talents, EVERYONE can do SOMETHING and you will be so glad you did.Check out the website for St.Jude............................www.stjude.org Veronica, the V-Girl from WQYK, took some time to talk with me in front of a photo of the St Jude Children's Research Center. This my faithful back-up dancer--Zach. Cute, isn't he? He's going to break a lot of hearts someday! More new fans-----that's why I sing! I always meet the nicest peoplel at the Fair! See what I mean? I even saw people walking past the Bicardi Cafe' just stop to see who was singing. That is what every singer hopes for. It helps to remember that at an event like the fair, people are always on the way to somewhere else. Still, I love it! See you there next year. I love it when this happens. There are many times when I sing and there is no one in the area to listen. That used to make me upset . But, I have learned to just sing anyway since I know the crowds will come. It was another freezing and windy day in sunny Florida. At the Bicardi Cafe' 2007 Florida State Fair. It was freezing on that deck at Remingtons! I mean, I know it's winter, but hey, this is Florida! Nothing like growing your own fans. Luckily baby Kennedy and big sister Kaylee Scharfman from Nashville didn't need too much convincing. I really appreciate Remingtons' manager Jeff Wills letting me sing there every Thursday night. One of my newest fans, Kaylee Scharfman of Nashville helped me out with Josh's Song. 13 AUG08 So- like I said, rejection could really mean depression as I spend yet another two days driving, waiting in lines, sitting in the stadium, and hope that THIS time someone will appreciate my talents. But not yet! Still I had a great time and met some really cool people. And when you think of the thousands of people at each audition site, you realize just how much luck is involved. I was actually the VERY last person into the stadium on Wednesday morning and since I registered at midnight I was in the absolute last section. There were maybe 50 people to audition after me. Those poor people who had to listen to the more than ten thousand people in Jacksonville. They were simply worn out by the time they got to me. ....Sounds like a good excuse anyway. I met a bunch of funny people while I waited for my turn. We called ourselves the "121 Crew". That is because we were sitting in the 121 section. And if nothing else, now everyone in that part of the stadium will be calling out in their sleep......."ASHLEY SHANNON DOT COM!" (Posters are a wonderful thing!) So check out this year's pictures and you will notice I am smiling even after getting shown the door one more time. Thankfully there was no more tornado watch in effect when we left like there was when we were standing in the rain in the morning. I did get about 4 minutes of live TV time when Charlie Belcher interviwed me before I went in. Some of the people at the hospital where my mom works saw me and quickly spread the word. We even heard from Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waites's office! Too cool!. I doubt I will do this again next year (I know, I said that twice before), unless they come to Tampa. So, don't feel sorry for me or disappointed. I know that when the time is right, everything will fall into place. Until then, I'll just keep chasing my dream! Feel free to run along with me. Ash ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 03AUG08 Well- another rejection. You know, a girl could really get discouraged with all these rejections! But I have a goal and I plan to one day become a household name....Just wait and see. So On the 12th of August I will travel to Jacksonville and do the cattle call thing on the mornign of the 13th. Keep you posted. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Ok then, I will give this American Idol thing one last try. Since the auditions are in Jacksonville, Florida that is only a few hours from home so what do I have to lose? Well, except a day's pay and many hours of sleep. So, the first thing I did was send a video of my performance of Carrie Underwood's "Last Name" to the Fox affiliate here in Tampa- affectionately known as MyFox Tampa Bay! ( If we can figure out how to upload it maybe you can see it on this page.) We did some new photos. Whoever wins the local contest with WQYK and Fox 13 is supposed to go directly before the show producers, but having been to two of the Idol cattle calls already, I know that means only that you go before the same people that the rest of the crowd goes before. Still, I have spent way too many hours sitting or standing in those lines. And the opportunity to avoid that would be great. So now, we just wait. And waiting is an art you must perfect if you want to audition for the American Idol experience. Wish me luck! I will keep you all up-dated. Still chasing my dream!
Idol 2007 Auditions etc Charlie Belcher of Fox 13- Tampa, was so sweet. He was very encouraging and kept me smiling. Inside the Arena "Superman" got past the first round. WHAT??? Lester Martin of Ashburn, Georgia seemed like such a quiet guy. Boy, was that wrong.He is sooooo funny! Ryan Seacrest came out to pump up the crowd and flirt a little bit. Ryan Seacrest offering audition advice. Well, here I am at the arena getting ready to go inside and get registered. And NO CROWDS! I got the coveted auditioner wristband. Now if only I could find someone to give this promo pack to, then I'd be set. The tickets assign you to a section in the arena. Then they call sections of the arena for the mass auditions. So to even get in the door you have to have the tickets and the wristbands. Now I am doing the tourist thing and picking up shells. Doesn't that water look inviting? Isn't it beautiful? We stopped at Miami Subs after a last stroll on the beach. Guess I got a little too much sun earlier today. Tough work, but someone's gotta do it! I took this pix on A1A on Tuesday night. Now you know why Mom is my photographer. Guess who took this one! What to wear? Mom voted no to this combination. Wonder why ;) Ok- this is the outfit, but I can promise that the hair and face will look much better. Well, I obviously don't have room for everyone's name here. Idol adventures A little bit of advertising may not have helped with the Idol thing, but a lot of people saw it! still waiting some of the people waiting to audition The "idol" sign walking to the audition tables My 30 seconds of "fame". Patrick found me Monday morning, but I don't know how. Maybe it was the poster! Tommy was so nice. He carried my bags of cold water and orange jucie. Unfortunately everyone had to throw out any water, juice, or snacks they had. So much for my plums and water! What would a girl do without the games on the cell phone at 3am? Tommy Garner came to Birmingham from McDonough, Georgia. He has a condo in Crystal Springs, Fl about five minutes from my home! My aunt Sherrie is truly a merry widow! Tommy was trying to keep her spirits up. My chaperone (yeah right!) -my Aunt Sherrie. Check it out- the coveted gray singer's wristband!!!!! With my new friends Hillary Helens and Patrick Accardi after we finally made it inside to the registration tables. Hillary Helens is from Willmington, North Carolina. She is a jazz/blues singer. I bet she is awesome! Her sister is in the Air Force and took leave to support her. They are both so nice. Two and a half hours and counting- waiting for the line to start moving. This is just a small portion of the crowd that beat us to the BJCC. Some of the crowd in front of me waiting to register. Well, I only thought it was fair to warn them. Says it all! I can't believe my mom is letting me do this........ Well, this isn't so bad. I won't have to drive at all. Ok- let's go..... Oh my gosh...it is SOOOOOOO early. Are you supposed to be awake at 4 am?
